Wow, Safari’s gonna be pissed. I’m cheating on it again. It’s not my fault it won’t satisfy me. Maybe I should be with someone that understands my need to blog.
Anyway! The main agenda of today’s blog post is as mentioned in the title… Thame Youth Theatre’s 20th Birthday Cabaret 2009.
Last night, Sam and myself hosted a show in which various talented people displayed their many many talents – a delightful mixture of song, dance, and acting. Sam and I had been asked to host it a while back, and graciously accepted. Little did we know it was the 20th birthday of the Theatre group which we’ve been a part of since 2005, and when we saw the running list, we crapped our pants.
About a week before the show, we decided it was probably a good idea to try and come up with some material, but, as most Sams and most Toms do so well, we failed. Most of what we did or said was either made up on the spot or created backstage twenty minutes before the show. It all went well, however, and most of what we said got a large amount of laughs. Thank God.
I just wanted to share that with you, and also post some photos. Take a gander.

The Cabaret Poster

Sam and Tom on stage
It’s the second time we’ve ever hosted a cabaret, but this one was on a much larger scale – 250 people in attendance last night, compared to the 100ish of last year.
Hopefully we’ll get another chance to do this, because we didn’t get to do nearly as much as we would have liked. Awesome nonetheless.

I have just returned from an ephemeral-submarine-escapade and, as there was no wireless network under the sea, I just now seen your blog… Okay, it was a boat, a sailboat… I wrecked.
Regarding your previous post, I’m going to write or email you tomorrow – I have little time now. You have an outstanding mind and the aptitude to construct your own ideas in ‘literary objects’. I have no doubt you’re going to do something interesting. So, I’m not going to wish you *luck*, because you don’t need it at all. I have no doubt that you will win if you just work a little on it.
A cabaret! What an awesome thing! I didn’t know that connotation. I thought a cabaret was a… you know. For a moment, I thought you and Sam had stripped off … on the tube… Ha-ha-hah! Thanks for sharing this, Tommy! You can’t imagine the ‘vital ecstasy’ that brings me to see these two lovable faces smiling together again!
Do you have a video? Man, you and Sam hosted a show in front of 250 people and without showing us… that’s a sacrilegious act! Now I’m so anxious to see it!
You have no idea how much I would have loved to be there! Maybe someday, when you become a famous British duo, like Little Britain’s guys, and you’re hosting world tours…
Love you guys!
